Two Bomb blasts have killed at least 18 pilgrims and wounded many more in the holy city of Karbala, south of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
The attacks occurred when two female bombers detonated their explosives-packed belts up 50 yards apart and at a five-minute interval in Iskandiriyah 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of the capital on Thursday, Police Lieutenant Kazem al-Khafaji in Babil province told AFP.
The attack targeted pilgrims en route to Karbala, 110 kilometers south of Baghdad, for a Shia festival planned there on Sunday.
Two other civilians were killed and 5 others injured in another incident earlier in central Baghdad.
